About us:

Bartiméus is a Dutch organization dedicated to supporting individuals with visual impairments, offering services such as daily assistance, treatment, diagnostics, and education. The organization operates its own schools, residential facilities, and various forms of daytime activities. Additionally, Bartiméus conducts extensive research and provides nationwide advice on the latest insights. The organization is committed to sharing its knowledge and experience with other organizations.

Aims and Purposes

The mission of Bartiméus is to ensure that all individuals who are visually impaired in the Netherlands can lead a life that suits them. This encompasses people of all ages and life stages, as well as everyone who personally or professionally supports them.

Structure and Organisation

Bartiméus is governed by a Board of Directors who are collectively responsible for the functioning of the entire organization. The Supervisory Board oversees the policy of the Board of Directors and the general affairs of Stichting Bartiméus Sonneheerdt and Stichting Bartiméus Onderwijs.

Size

Bartiméus employs over 1,800 staff members and is supported by approximately 850 volunteers. The organization serves more than 10,000 individuals with visual impairments across the Netherlands.

Methodologies

Bartiméus employs a multidisciplinary approach to care and support, utilizing the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle to continuously improve the quality of services. The organization also conducts internal audits, client satisfaction surveys, and incident investigations to monitor and enhance service quality.
